Bible verses about god's love

People search for bible verses about God's love from two very different places. Some come curious — is God actually loving, or just distant and displeased? Others come wounded, quietly asking whether that love could still include them. Scripture answers both with the same verse, the most famous sentence ever written: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). The word everyone is doing more work there than we usually let it.

What does the Bible say about God's love when you feel unlovable? It points backward, to a love that started before you did anything. "But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Not after we improved. While. And it points all the way back further still: "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with loving devotion" (Jeremiah 31:3). A love with no starting point has no conditions to violate.

Then scripture turns to the question underneath the question — can I lose it? Romans 8:38-39 answers with a list built to leave nothing out: "neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Paul is not being poetic. He is closing every exit.

And in case love still sounds abstract, Zephaniah 3:17 makes it startlingly personal: "He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing." God does not merely tolerate you. He sings.
