About Scripture Search

A quiet place to bring what you’re carrying and find scripture that meets it.

What we’re for

Most Bible tools ask you to already know the reference. Scripture Search starts from where people actually are — a feeling, a hard night, an honest question. Type it in plain language (“I’m anxious about money,” “my friend just died,” “what does the Bible say about forgiveness?”) and you receive a small, hand-curated set of verses, a written prayer, and a short reflection — across multiple translations. The interface is meant to feel like a chapel, not a dashboard.

Our library is theologically shaped rather than algorithmically scraped: real people choose the passages for each topic so that what you read actually serves the moment. When a question falls outside the library, a carefully constrained AI step suggests verses that are then checked against a trusted Bible source before anything is shown.

Care comes first

Some searches signal something more urgent than a topic lookup. When we detect language consistent with a crisis, we surface verified hotlines — the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, Crisis Text Line, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, RAINN, and others — before any scripture. Scripture Search is not a substitute for medical, mental-health, or pastoral care, and it never tries to be.

Who builds it

Scripture Search is designed, built, and maintained by Photizo Labs LLC, a small independent software studio. We build calm, trustworthy tools for meaningful moments — software that respects your attention and your privacy. We don’t run tracking analytics on what you search, we don’t sell data, and the site works without an account.

The name Photizo comes from the Greek φωτίζω — “to give light, to illuminate.” It’s the word behind passages like “the true Light which gives light to everyone” (John 1:9) and “the eyes of your heart enlightened” (Ephesians 1:18) — a fitting aim for the work we try to do.
